Emke Group unveils Dh200m mall in Abu Dhabi

Khalidiyah will be ready by end of 2005 covering 80,000 square metres and with open parking for 2,000 cars.

A new Dh200 million mall is set to intensify competition in the fast growing retail sector of Abu Dhabi . The Khalidiyah Mall, the largest from the Emke Group, will spread across 80,000 square metres over two floors and open parking space for some 2,000 cars. It is expected to be ready by the end of 2005. "We started our business from Abu Dhabi and this is our first full-fledged mall for family shopping and leisure," said Yusuffali M.A., managing director of Emke Group.

"We believe that, while our service network is expanding across the region, it is only appropriate that our most prestigious project be located in Abu Dhabi ," he added. "Till date about 60 per cent of the total shop floor has been committed.”Unveiling the design of the mall, he said it has an, Islamic architectural design with an elegant atrium, a summer garden, fountains, cafes and a food court. Some 140 outlets of international brands including some prestigious names will be part of the mall. Khalidiyah Mall is the most ambitious project of the Emke Group which has been active in the Gulf's retail sector for the last 38 years. The group presently has over 40 outlets in the UAE, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait . "We are exploring new market opportunities in Saudi Arabia, Libya, Sudan, Egypt and Yemen and immediate plans include opening of Lulu hypermarkets in Muscat, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain by the end of this year," said Yusuffali.
